How You Can Stress Less (part 3/5)

Find the Joy...

There comes a time in everyone's life when we feel stuck, depressed, or anxious.  I don't mean the fleeting moments of frustration, but rather the ongoing chronic feeling of being weighted down and trapped by our own situation.  We all get there at some point.  Maybe it's because we get wrapped up in our day to day life and caught up in the vicious paycheck to paycheck cycle, but somehow, we all get there.

 

I think it's vitally important when we find ourselves in this situation, to go out and do something fun.  I remember being asked the question, "What do you do for fun?" and drawing a blank every time.  "Uhhh... yoga... reading", I would answer.  These were the only things I could come up with, yet neither of these strike me as FUN.

 

The things that everyone else does for fun like going to the beach or going to the amusement park never caust my interest.  No, that's an understatement.  Those things fill me with horror.  It wasn't until I started looking for things out of the ordinary and tapping into memories of my youth that I began to remember what FUN meant to me.

 

I went to trapeze school... twice.  I attended a Halloween party and danced with my business friends.  I took my kids on a ropes course (including the five year old).  Finding ways to be uniquely you allows you to break down the walls of depression and frustration.  Amazing things start to happen.  For me, as I began to include FUN in my schedule, I began to be more creative and innundated with new ideas.

 

You can do this too!  Remember to stay in your own skin.  Tap into things that you find  interesting or get curious and experience new things.  Break the trap of walking through life in a habitual patern, going through the same motions day after day.  Schedule something new.  Go to a park or a museum.  Go on an adventure.  Exper

 

ience something new, fresh, and FUN!
